Dynamic DJ? Who we are and what we do

Dynamic DJ Entertainment started 4 years ago and has been serving the triangle area (Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill areas) with mobile DJ-ing services. How did we begin what got us started? It started with a simple idea one that was then molded into something bigger than we thought anyone our age would be able to accomplish —at the time we were all below the age of 18. But there was one major aspect missing that you need when you begin your own business venture…money! We had no money there was no way just ourselves would have been able to accomplish this business without the grateful help and support we revived at the start of the company from our parents. We now had a funding source. Now, what to do with the money, we knew music and that’s about all. We had no idea about how sound systems worked or operated. I made it my personal mission then to learn everything there was on sound and sound dynamics. Without this knowledge we really didn’t know where to begin. After much research and some emailing back and forth I finally decided on a system that would fit in our $500 budget. Now if you ever have bought pro audio equipment before we all know it costs a mint just to get a pair of speakers and amps. Therefore, we had to start small. We started with four Kustom KPC10 10” speakers and two Nady power amps. For our mixing console we used my laptop with DSS DJ installed on it. This system worked for small events and dances but the second we tried doing anything bigger you could definitely tell the system was not made for it. After about 3 gigs we blew our first speaker. It was actually, you must admit, pretty cool. Smoke starting pouring out of the horn and woofer and everyone started looking at us like we were crazy. In the end it just ended up costing more money to replace it. After our first little run in with trouble we decided to upgrade. We already paid off the other set-up and we were ready for something bigger and better. I began my search in the end I once again went with Kustom because of price this time purchasing the Kustom KPC15M 15’ speakers. We didn’t need to buy new amps because the ones we had were sufficient enough to power the 15’ already. Our first few gigs with them they did great, we got more bass and sound. But guess what once again we were at a gig and boom not did just one blow but two. We were in the hole again with $300 in debt because of the new speakers. This was really the last straw. The company came together for what we call “brainstorming sessions” might sound lame but some of our best ideas come out of these sessions. We decided on a completely new set-up. Now let’s put the new sound set-up that we got on hold and quickly talk about some of the effects that we purchased through this time period. We stated off with a Chauvet Mini line dancer and an Eliminator dance effect light. These lights were an absolute great purchase (In future posts I will be reviewing each part of equipment we have and post links on where to purchase the items). We have used them for every gig and party we have ever done they have never failed us. We then purchased two Chauvet Intimidators, but it seems like we are always buying new bulbs for the Intimidators. But all in all, the light show looks great along with the fog machine. Now, back to the new sound set-up after brainstorming like crazy, we decided the best way to go next is the powered speaker route. One because we wouldn’t have to lug around the two power amps and second they have built in crossovers, equalizers, and limiters so it makes a bit more difficult to clip and blow these speakers. At first we looked at the JBL EON2 powered speakers but found they just didn’t fit our budget. We eventually settled on two Behringer Eurolive B212A powered cabs and as a special bonus we also bought a Behringer B1800X subwoofer. For the sub we did have to carry around one of the power amps but it was worth it. We have stuck with this system to this day it’s about a year old and works like a charm. Now a little about what we do, we do everything birthdays, corporate events, school dances/parties, fiestas, sound reinforcement and any other entertainment method related to sound. We all have an absolute passion and love for our company —if you would like to meet the members of the company just head over to dynamicdj.org— and strife to continue to provide the best mobile music and DJ entertainment in our area. Julie and Julia (Movie)

Julie and Julia Movie

I never thought that I would find myself watching a chick flick about cooking. But because of the great interest that I have always had in the field of cooking and due to the great sense of humor Julia Child always had in her original cooking show “The French Chef.”

So there it was in RedBox and I decided to rent it. After watching it, I found it to be a brilliant movie. It followed the lives of two women who seemed to be ordinary people. It follows Julia Child’s life right before she found her great talent in cooking. It then simultaneously follows the life of a New York government worker and her husband. She begins the task of cooking every recipe in the Julia Child cookbook because her family believes she never finishes anything she starts. Before she embarks on this journey through the cookbook, she begins a blog to tell the world about her progress. In the end, she has many people following her blog and progress and successfully completes every recipe in the cookbook.

On the other hand Child’s life seemed to be a very interesting one portrayed by the movie. She and her husband move constantly due to his job. But Julia still seems to continue on with life in a very happy manner. In the end, Julia finishes the cookbook and the movie ends with her receiving the publishing letter for the cookbook. All in all, I believe this was a great movie even in a masculine perspective. Its a movie of perseverance and in a way following your dreams. I would highly recommend it if you like to cook or would just like a great chick flick.

Awesome soundboard set-up. Hopefully I can run a rig like this someday.

Phone Update: DJ-ing in Chapel Hill

Welcome to Das Park Hotel in Linz, Austria. This unique hotel has transformed standard concrete sewer pipes into hotel rooms, simply by giving them a back wall and large front door, and drilling a window in the side for a little bit of natural light.

Tumblr...Another change?

Yes, I can now official can say that this is my third time switching content management systems. Every time I switch get super excited because I find all these new features that all in all I believe will change the way that I blog but in reality they just become a hassle to upkeep and manage. Now I’m not saying that all the past systems Ive used absolutely were terrible they just weren’t working with a busy schedule. So I stopped blogging for awhile for that reason. But once again a good friend of mine and business partner came to the rescue of my blog. Nick Drago a blog writer, DJ, entrepreneur, and college student interested me in tumblr. I looked at for awhile and it looked well quite simply put easy. Ahhh!…just what Ive been looking for. So here I am again writing a blog but not just any blog a tumblr blog. Although I have lost many readers, if I even had any, this will be the perfect time for me to bring the blog back with all the good old topics plus some new and exciting ones.
